Here's where hopefully you can help us out a little. Trying to get a novel published these days is a long, arduous (not to mention debilitatingly demoralizing) process - unless you happen to be amazingly lucky, like Christopher Paolini. We, it seems, are not so blessed. We're sending out chapters to publishers, but in the meantime, we're going to pay a company to print and bind a few versions of the book, then sell those copies to - you guessed it - you! The problem with this plan is that in order to get the books printed, we need money. We're both slowly trying to put money away, but student loans and other bills unfortunately have to come first. This being the case, we're going to try something a little out of the ordinary. If you want to purchase a digital copy of the novel in .PDF format (chapter illustrations and all), we're making that option available. ALL proceeds from these sales will go directly into a business account we already have set up, and will go towards self-publishing. |
| Now, we realize that many people may not want to have to sit in front of a computer screen to read. So we're going to make you a deal. Everyone who buys one of these digital copies is entitled to a bound, autographed copy, at no extra cost, as soon as we make enough money to print them. Look at it this way - you make a donation to our cause, we send you the digital copy as our guarantee that you're getting your money's worth, then in a few months to a year you'll have a first edition signed copy of your very own. As of yet we haven't chosen a printing company, so we don't know how much all this is going to cost. We're most likely going to try for a first run of somewhere around one thousand to two thousand books. Until we know the prices for sure, we're going to be charging 10 (US) dollars for each copy. |
